My Thoughts on the Last Democratic Debate and how a Moderate-Focus has Failed Us

Reflecting on yet another night of unsatisfying discussion on the debate stage

Remind me—just exactly how are these practical, reasonable moderates going to achieve their poorly defined goals—the thing that defeated Hillary Clinton. The relative distance to “reasonable” has been reset by Ronald Reagan, Bush 1, Bush 2, Steve Mnuchin (I mean Donald Trump)—always to the gross disadvantage of the struggling lower class and middle class.

How is it the greatest country in the history has a half million people sleeping on the streets every night. How is it we are the only advanced country that cannot provide medical care for all of citizens, educate its children through an advanced level or protect the environment we all share?

Sanders or Warren 2020.

About Me

I’m old, but the machinery between my ears seems to be running well. I have a deep interest in seeing our democracy as I have known it survive the uninformed, thoughtless impulsivity of the White House’s current occupants. There is reason for hope. My son is thirty and my daughter is twenty-two. Their kindness and good minds gives me the sense that we can get beyond the profoundly destructive behavior of this President.

If you are interested in today and tomorrow please share a thought when the spirit moves. I promise to be more specific in the future.——————Warren Shingle
